Monday night was a typical night at the “office” for me.  I spent the evening at the MDA Muscle Team Bash Fundraiser at the Omni Mandalay with Cowboys Fantasy Photo and we photographed J.J. Barea, Dallas Mavericks Point Guard and MTB Captain. I also met Tony Dorsett, Ed “To Tall” Jones, Drew Pearson, Rayfield Wright, etc, etc, etc.  As always, I had a GREAT time.  This is J.J. Barea “flipping the coin” in one of our Cowboys Fantasy Photo backgrounds.

Friday we spent the day at the Dallas Convention Center. We were volunteering doing pirate photos for the Snowball Express, which is a charity that provides hope and new memories to the children of our fallen military heroes who died while on active duty since 9-11. One of our grooms from this year is a VP for Elbit Systems, a government military contractor, and they are a big sponsor of the Snowball Express and they told us about it. We were eager to help any way we could and when we found out they were thinking of doing pirate-themed family photos we were excited to donate our services.

There were many people involved in putting together this donation to Snowball Express and we would like to say a huge thank you to them – we couldn’t have done this event without you!  Many thanks to Janet and Frank with Cottonwood Creek Costume Company for not only providing props and costumes but also for volunteering their time on Friday to help dress people in costume all day.  We would also like to thank Joyce with GG Creations and Tim with Old Time Photos in Pigeon Forge for sending us tons costumes and props. Finally, another huge thank you goes out to Andrew with Shinko for providing the media for the printers and thanks to Doug, Laura and Tina with imageTech Marketing for providing the Shinko S1245 8×10 printer and Eric, Ronny and Bob with Imaging Spectrum for providing the back up Shinko S1245 printer.

Saturday we were invited to a special day at Cowboy Stadium. The floor of the stadium was set up for dinner and a special concert by the Lt. Dan Band. If the name sounds familiar it is because it is named for Gary Sinise’s character in Forrest Gump. Mr. Sinise came out on the field hours before the concert to shake hands, do photos and sign autographs for the attendees. I was able to photograph him and shake his hand. I thanked him for all he had done for Snowball Express and everyone in the military.

This was incredibly moving experience to know what these families have gone through and we were honored and humbled to be a small part of this amazing event.

Snowball Express Event at the Cowboy

We were lucky enough to work with the fantastic crew at Telemundo 39 again this week at the Futbol Fiesta for the big double-header soccer game at the Cotton Bowl.  We had a blast and would like to send a special thank you out to Carmen, Noemi and Vanessa – you were great as always!  This time we had 3 different backgrounds to work with – the weather (which you have probably seen before), a Telemundo Sportscaster and a soccer player. All three were pretty popular, but I think the soccer goalie came out as the favorite (no surprise there).

I had the pleasure of working with NBC Universal Sports a few weeks ago for a green screen event on the final day of the Visa Gymnastics Championships. We had a great time and thought we would post a few pics of some of most enthusiastic gymnastics fans:

We are excited to be working with NBC’s Universal Sports next weekend at the Visa Gymnastics Championships.  The 2009 Gymnastics Championships are being held in Dallas this year and run from Aug 12-15 – you can purchase tickets to see some of the events or you can head out on Saturday, August 15 for the Visa Fan Fest which is open to the public.

The Visa Fan Fest tent will be set up across the street from the American Airlines Center so come join the fun, get some autographs, play some games, and get a free photo of you as a Sportscaster for Universal Sports!  Bill will be heading out to their Media Day on Tuesday to do some photos of the gymnasts in training, then he will use those photos for the background in Saturday’s green screen photos – this takes him back to his newspaper days and sports photography and I’m not sure which event he is more excited about.  Hope to see you there!
