Most of you know that I have two jobs – the company that Tanya & I own, Albertex Photography, and imageTech Marketing where I am director of technical operations. That is a fancy way of saying that I sell and provide tech support to other Event Photographers. So in between weddings, I am spending the week in San Diego for the West Coast School of Photography. Not only is imageTech one of the sponsors, but I also taking one of the classes. This year I am taking a class titled The Fine Art of Photography with Michael & Tina Timmons of Gallery 143 in Michigan.
Yesterday was Day 1 and we saw several tutorials on the sort of work they produce for their clients. Both Michael & Tina are Master Photographers, Craftsmen – the highest ranking in the PPA. In the afternoon, we had an hour to shoot photos around the USD campus then we headed back to class to work on our images and see what we could come up with. I am used to being the person who is teaching the class on Photoshop, so this is turning out to be an interesting experience and it is definitely opening my mind to new stuff. Here are the 3 of the images I shot and worked on yesterday. First is the Immaculate Catholic Church build in 1956 as seen through an arc:
Next is a cactus on campus
And finally, I saw a bee fly into a rose so I sat and waited patiently until it flew away:
