So, I know we have a ton of blogging to catch up on so we are going to start with a post about our Fourth of July event! This year we had an offer we couldn’t refuse, so we made a big sacrifice and decided to forgo our annual 4th of July BBQ in favor of some work and fun in the Bahamas. The bonus was 2 days of R and R at the Atlantis Resort with some great friends!
I’ll start with the event we were photographing. We were working with our friends from Instant Ancestors in Kissimmee, Florida. Charlotte, Derrick, Sug, Ruth Anne, and Angie at the Atlantis Resort’s annual 4th of July party and the theme was Western. Everyone knows how much we LOVE themed events, so needless to say we had a blast. Want to guess who we photographed first? The Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders! The funny thing is, this is third time this year we have been working at an event and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders have been there.
We finished up the event around midnight, just in time to have this fantastic view of the hotel:
After the work came the fun – the Atlantis was generous enough to give us an extra couple of nights at the hotel to enjoy the facilities… and we did! The morning after our event we took a quick trip into Nassau to do a bit of shopping and lunch (had some excellent fried conch). After lunch we headed back to the resort and hit the beach. Derrick, Sug, Ruth Anne and Angie decided to take a ride on an inflatable raft and Tanya and I got on a boat. It was fun to watch but became hilarious when Derrick flew off face first into the water.
Fortunately the only casualty was Derrick’s sunglasses.
The next day we went and looked at the fish and aquariums. The jelly fish were the best. They were in a very dark tank and the colors and movement were fun to watch but a bit of a challenge to photograph.
After enjoying the aquatic life, we hit the pool (and beach) again where we found a bartender who made us the best mango mojito EVER. It was delicious. We did some of the water rides, pools and beach and enjoyed the Atlantis property.
Early on the day we flew out we did a self portrait with the Atlantis behind us.
