I have always been meticulous about renewing things on time, especially important documents like my driver’s license and my passport. Imagine my surprise when our crazy year finally caught up with us this week and I discovered that my passport had expired two weeks ago! We received confirmation of a photo shoot out of the country and that started a two-day adventure for us. We will be shooting at event for the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas (YAY!!!!), but we will write more about that later.
I know, an expired passport should be no big deal, right? The problem came two-fold – first, I’m Canadian so that means at least 4 weeks to renew it, second, we are traveling in 6 weeks but they may need my passport sooner than that to process the work documents. After many phone calls to Passport Canada and the Canadian Consulate in Dallas (I even looked into flying to Canada next week to have it renewed in Canada), I finally got everything done and my package arrived in Canada this morning!
FWIW – we discovered that a photographer cannot take their own photo for a Canadian passport, but their husband can 🙂 Thanks to Bill for running to UPS yesterday while I finished up a wedding album.
