For all of the UT Austin fans out there we had the opportunity to photograph a fundraiser for the Silver Spurs with BEVO on Friday and Saturday in Austin. This past weekend was Commencement Weekend for UT Austin so there were plenty of new graduates and alumni around. We were set up early on the field of the Darrell K Royal Stadium and BEVO made his appearance promptly at 10AM. To go along with commencement weekend, we were set up right across the street from the Bass Concert Hall on campus so a lot of families were able to just walk across the street to do their photo with BEVO.
On Friday, Bill’s friend Dee Dee (he has knows her since high school) can by with her daughter Ashley who was graduation that day. Dee Dee and her husband Greg are both UT Alums and Ashley was the student speaker at the College of Communications Commencement ceremony so we are excited to show off her photo here!

One thing we definitely learned, when at 2000lb steer decides he is tired of standing and takes a seat on the field with his butt to everyone, it is easier to move us, our equipment and everyone else than to try and move him. BEVO was amazingly docile and patient with all the people who came out to see him and have their photo taken so we thought he deserved his own close-up.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with UT Austin, the Silver Spurs and BEVO, this was a VERY big deal. Not only were people allowed on the football field, BEVO only makes 3 to 4 appearances a year on campus (other than football games) and people are rarely able to see him up close.
On to our little foodie addiction. As most people know, Austin is an amazing city for food. After we packed things up on Friday we went to lunch at Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill – it was recommended by several people and didn’t disappoint. We tried their chicken fried steak as well as the chicken and waffles and both were delicious, but the best part was the pail of seasoned popcorn they bring to the table instead of bread or chips & salsa. I could make of meal of that popcorn alone – yum! For dinner that night we went to Paul Qui’s East Side King (if you watch Top Chef you might remember him as the winner of Season 9). We had the pork belly bun, the kinchi pirk ramen and the most amazing brussels sprouts salad EVER. Yes, we are posting a photo of food. We figure we see enough under-exposed out-of-focus cell phone shots of everyone else’s dinner, we can post one well done photo of our dinner :).
